Halfacre Construction Company, a Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company, recently named Reed Giasson and Tom Rees as partners.
In their new roles, the two will work alongside Halfacre Construction President Jack Cox to strengthen local relationships and strategize future growth and lead various projects for the company.
Giasson joined Halfacre Construction 18 years ago as a carpenter. He advanced from that position to lead estimator, to a field superintendent, to a project manager and later became a vice president. With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Giasson has overseen all aspects of a project, including its direction, budget and schedule. As the team leader for manufacturing and industrial projects, Giasson will manage preconstruction services and oversee the project managers and superintendents during construction through project completion.
He has extensive experience in overseeing continuing-contract construction management and renovations of existing facilities and new construction. Giasson’s past projects include Marina Jack’s renovations, Siesta Key Village beautification, Punta Gorda and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport towers, Sun Hydraulics’ manufacturing facility and numerous projects for Manatee County Port Authority, Manatee County and Sarasota County governments.

Rees joined Halfacre Construction 14 years ago as an assistant project manager. He has more than 14 years of experience in construction and project operations and has extensive knowledge in design build projects. Rees will supervise the firm’s educational projects in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, Collier and Hillsborough Counties. From preconstruction through completion, he will oversee all project phases and managing client relations.
His diverse background includes the industrial, municipal, educational and telecommunications industries within public and private markets with structural steel, tilt-wall and hardened-survivable facilities experience. Rees’ past projects include numerous educational facilities projects throughout Florida, The Loveland Center Villages, MacDill Air Force Base, SKY Family YMCA, group home facilities for The Haven in Sarasota, Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota and Caldwell Trust’s headquarters in Venice. He is also a certified general contractor in Florida.
Halfacre Construction currently employs 30 at its Lakewood Ranch-based office. As part of its recent growth, the firm recently added three new positions and promoted two.
